I’ll never forget the day that The Loved Ones came blasting out of my tiny little computer speakers and knocked me across the room. My roommate, then a computer programer for a Department of Defense subcontractor came home to tell me he spent the entire day surfing Myspace and discovered a little band with members of Kid Dynamite. He knew I’d like it, but he was wrong. I loved it.

Over the years I’ve followed Dave Hause career from The Loved Ones frontman, to his humble start as a Punk Rock Singer Songwriter. While I’ve loved his output and his career, it was Dave and his  longtime cohort Colin McGinniss talk of their  hilarious tales and antics from their years as roadies of seminal Punk/Hardcore outfit Kid Dynamite in the Four Years One Gulp DVD that ignited my man-crush for Hause.

Finally my years of patience paid off handsomely as Hause  rolled into Denver as a part of this year’s Revival Tour, playing nightly with the  the country’s best singer songwriters of the punk rock variety.

We sat in the Revival Tour bus and discussed him having his father’s name and the weight that carries. We talked his early church career and how those early days factored into his current songwriting career. We also talked of his days with Kid Dynamite, Sick of It All and The Bouncing Souls and how that helped him become the musician he is today. We talked about carpentry and oh so much more in today’s podcast!

Songs on this week’s episode include “C’mon Kid” and “Time Will Tell” from Restorations, originally released in 2011 on Paper + Plastick. The album was re-released in 2013 on Rise Records.
